Someone Else's Arms

Look at all those city lights
Staring back at me
Yeah I know that you’re out there somewhere
And I’m just a memory
And it’s all I can do to keep from thinking of you
As I cruise down the boulevard
Are you laying in someone else's arms
It didn't take that long at all
For you to step out in the world
I tried my best to do it myself
It’s not the same without you girl
So I sit here alone with the radio on
And I wonder where you are
Are you laying in someone else's arms

Someone else's arms to hold you like I use to
Someone else's arms to take your pain away
Well I try my best to let you go
But my world just fades to dark
When I picture you in someone else's arms

I curse the day that I broke your heart
And I let you slip away
And now to think that there's someone else,
Well that’s more than I can take
I can see you with him as the lights go dim
Oh my mind just runs too far
Are you laying in someone else's arms
Someone else's arms to hold you like I use to
Someone else's arms to take your pain away
Well I try my best to let you go
But my world just fades to dark
When I picture you in someone else's arms
Now I try my best to let you go
But my world just fades to dark
When I picture you in someone else's arms

Boom Town
When I was just a baby
There was money all around.
Silver spoon rampant
In this blue collar town
Oil companies bringing temporary bliss
Short term profits at the top of their list
I was born in a Boom Town
I was born in a Boom Town
I was born in a Boom Town
Grew up in a bust town
Every day Joes
Making Top Dollar Bills
I was just a kid
When it all went to hell
The oil money left but my daddy he stayed
Tried to raise a family on the minimum wage
I was born in a Boom Town
I was born in a Boom Town
I was born in a Boom Town
Grew up in a bust town
We lost our homes
And all the shops closed down on Main Street
We never had too much
But at least we gained humility
-Lap Steel-
Twenty years later
With a Middle Eastern war
Big oil came a knocking
Back on our door
I’d like to tell'm where to go, I was fit to be tied
But for 20 bucks an hour I can swallow my pride
Now I live in a boom town
Now I live in a boom town
Now I live in a boom town
I’ll probably die in a bust town.

I’ll Never Come Back
I was on the phone with a friend of mine
Back Home in Abilene
I guess he’d talked to some girl
Who couldn’t stop talking about me
Now I’ve been gone for three straight years
And that’s just too short you see
It makes you want to break all ties
When you are cut with a wound so deep
So, at first I couldn’t have cared less
Then a crazy thought crossed my mind
What if it’s you, somehow.
After all the pain, After all this time
I’ll Never Come Back
I’ll Never Come Back
Unless it’s you
I’ll Never come Back
Soon, you were all I could think about
As my friends words just scattered in my ear
Your contagious laugh, sweet perfume
And your face began to appear
I remembered that weekend in Colorado
The mountain walks and the breeze in your hair
I carved our names in that Aspen tree…huh
At least we’re still together there.
Yeah, as my buddy rambled on
God, I wished that girl was you
But you and I, we both know
That just can’t be true.
I’ll Never Come Back
I’ll Never Come Back
Unless it’s you
I’ll Never come Back

-Steel Guitar-
You know, I started seeing a therapist
One who specializes in folks like me
She tells me I’m one hard case
But in time I’ll return to sanity
It’s kind of nice talking to a woman again
Sometimes I swear it your voice I hear
Then reality set in
And there is no holding back the tears
Yeah, she swear she can bring me back
But there aint a damn thing she can do
Unless it’s a lie or some sick dream
And cancer never took you
I’ll Never Come Back
I’ll Never Come Back
Unless it’s you
I’ll Never come Back

I’ll Never Come Back
I’ll Never Come Back
Unless it’s you
I’ll Never come Back
Last two Lines of Chorus

Leaving Santa Fe
Sitting here on this Greyhound in the dark
Staring out of this one way glass
Wishing you'd walk out that station door
With open arms
But there aint a soul around
The depot's closing down
And I hear that lonesome sound
Of the diesels
As we slowly pull away
Leaving Santa Fe
Rollin’ fast those billboards come and go
Through the shattered dreams of us
Passing street lights fade in to the dark
To where you are
There's the city limit sign
And soon the Colorado line
I guess were right on time
By tomorrow
We'll be a thousand miles away
Leaving Santa Fe
-Piano and Steel-
Yeah I guess I took your love for granted
Loosing you is a bitter price to pay
Oh I wish you would give us one more try
But you'll never here another word I say
Leaving Santa Fe
-Piano and Steel-
There's the city limit sign
And soon the Colorado line
Somewhere I lost my mind
And tomorrow
I’ll be a thousand miles away
Leaving…. Santa Fe

That'll Get Me Home
Bald tires on a 63 Ford
That'll get me home
A dusty sandwich and a cold cup of joe.
That'll get me home
I'm runnin' low on gasoline
And all my money is long gone
Just knowin' that my baby’s waitin' for me
That'll get me home

-Guitar and Dobro-
I'm cruisin' down the 295
That'll get me home
Dreamin' all about her deep blue eyes
That'll get me home
My baby shines like diamonds and gold
And every sparkle it shows
Her love is with me every mile that role
That'll get me home
-Fiddle, Dobro and Mandolin-
My baby shines like diamonds and gold
And every sparkle it shows
Her love is with me every mile that role
That'll get me home
That'll get me home
That'll get me home

That Ain’t Me

I’ve been living in St. Augustine
In a sail boat for a home
Life here in this harbor babe
It’s all I’ve ever known
And you showed up with your naive dreams
From the hills of Tennessee
Bringing thoughts of changing me
To a man I’ll never be
I could take this life I’m living
And leave it all behind
I could leave the coast and the albatross
For the Blue Ridge Mountain pine
And I could take this old rum bottle
And throw it to the sea
Then I’d be the man you’re looking for
But Baby That Aint Me
There’s something about the ocean babe
It seeps into your veins
I come from a line of mariners
They say we’re all the same
You Heart’s so pure and I might be a fool
To turn away your hand
But I’m not someone in need of help
I’m a hardened sailor man
I could take this life I’m living
And leave it all behind
I could leave the coast and the albatross
For the Blue Ridge Mountain pine
And I could take this old rum bottle
And throw it to the sea
Then I’d be the man you’re looking for
But Baby That Aint Me

Keep On Keepin’ On
Daddy had to go and he' d be gone for weeks.
I felt the tears rolling down my cheeks
I was so young, but I still understood,
The words he said to me.
He said keep on keepin’ on.
I'll be there to guide you along.
Remember when your voice is weary,
I will help you sing that song.
And it may feel like you’re alone
but you can bet I'm by your side.
So remember while I'm gone.
Keep on keepin’ on.
When I was ten I played my first big game.
The coach put me in and dad was running late.
I stepped up, looked out on the field,
And remembered what he said.
You got to keep on keepin’ on.
I'll be there to guide you along.
Remember when your voice is weary,
I will help you sing that song.
And it may feel like you’re alone
but you can bet I'm by your side.
So remember while I'm gone.
Keep on keepin’ on.
Bridge
I hit two doubles, I didn’t make one error.
Somehow my dad was with me there
I learned one thing that day that life’s a song
And Love is our voice when we are gone
Thirty years quickly passed us bye.
I saw the tears fall from mamas’ eyes.
I was too late, but dad had written a note,
And mama read it as she cried.
Keep on keepin’ on.
I'll be there to guide you along.
Remember when your voice is weary,
I will help you sing that song.
And it may feel like you’re alone
but you can bet I'm by your side.
So remember while I'm gone.
Keep on keepin’ on.
Remember now I’m Gone.
Keep on keepin’ On

We Time
Two Suitcases sittin’ on the floor
One’s over packed, still needing some more
But its’s ok to share some space
They’re both going to the same warm place
For some We Time
Only two tickets leaving kids behind
Plain leaves the ground right on time
Work and worries fade away
Paradise closing in to take their place
For some We Time
A little We Time
A little We… Time
We saved our money
Now we’re somewhere sunny
For some We Time
Wheels touch the ground as we start to land
15 minutes ‘til we hit the sand
Two beach chairs, one umbrella
She’s one hot mama; I’m one lucky fella
Lovin’ We Time
Night time drinkin' at a little beach bar
Tiki torch dancin’ goes a little too far
Buzzin’ like bees off to bed we go
Get a little kinky in the bungalow…..
We Time
A little We Time
A little We… Time
We saved our money
Now we’re somewhere sunny
For some We Time

Back to work, to life and reality
Stacks on the desk and priorities
First on the list, buy another trip
Next year we’re booked on a carnival ship

MORE THAN MONEY
She's drives a Mercedes Benz
Wears a big diamond ring -.
He's drives a porche 912 and he owns a magazine
They got a beachfront mansion down in FLA
“Ya know they have it made”
That's what some people say
But she never calls him baby
He never calls her honey
Sometimes it takes a little more that money
You can have a lot of green and still be blue
It aint material things that make a love stand true
It takes a little huggin'
It takes a little squeezin'
Sometimes it takes a little late night teezin'
If I had a lot of cash I wouldn't want it takin' from me
But sometimes it takes a little more that money
He never takes her sailing on his sailin' ship
But he's got a bunch of beauties grindin’ on his hip
He don't attend her social functions but he'd never dream
She has her own blond beauty
if you know what I mean
It might seem a little strange
It might look a little funny.
Sometimes it takes a little more than money.

Whiskey Bound
It’s been a year
Since I drank to you
That’s a year to the day
Since we were through
It hurt so bad that the Bourbon it flowed
Cold, like a river
Almost swallowed my soul
I’m Whiskey Bound
Just might drown this time
I thought for good,
I was out of your web
Then you spun me in lies
And crawled back in my bed
Now I’m at this bar once again for to Pine
I’m gonna drink you away
Gonna cross that line
I’m Whiskey Bound
Just might drown this time
It’s not so easy to do
To forget you once again
I got some help from this bottle of blues
Posing as my best friend
How in the hell
Could I be in such pain
When you stole all my money
And you bought cocaine
You slept with my friends
Lied to my face
You pawned my guitar
Then you moved to LA
I’m Whiskey Bound
Just might drown this time
It’s not so easy to do
To forget you once again
I got some help from this bottle of blues
Posing as my best friend
-Guitar and Dobro-

Here’s to those who make us cry
And leave us feeling used
Raise your glass and your fingers high
And say this one here’s for you
I’m Whiskey Bound
Just might drown this time
I’m Whiskey Bound
Just might drown this time

Take Another Look
I’ve seen harder times
Baby once or twice
Satans door, I’ve seen paradise
Troubled kids and their mamas cry
Fortunes fall over wells gone dry
Victory and the champion stand
Every road sign all across this land

So you can take our love
With its ashes and its embers
And drown it with your selfish head strong ways
If you think harsh words said
And a cold cold bed Beats all I’ve ever seen
Then darling take another look at me
I’ve seen LA nights and traffic jams
Countless dreams slip right through my hands
Lonesome roads and rest stop nights
Endless seas in the full moon light
I’ve seen my brother pass to a better place
And my mama’s tears falling down her face

So you can take our faded love and all its embers
And down it with your pessimistic view
It might take its toll but if you think I’m full
Of hopeless misery
Then darling take another look at me

-Steel Guitar-

So you can take our faded love and all its embers
And down it with your pessimistic view
But if you think I’m here to shed a tear
Or to get down on my knees
Then darling take another look at me
Darling take another look at me
